Toby Mac

Toby Mac is an American Christian hip-hop artist and singer. He has won several awards, including Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album, Best Rock Gospel Album and Billboard Music Award for Top Christian Artist. He has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.

Born Kevin Michael Toby McKeehan, and raised in Annandale, Virginia, Toby always had a love for music and formed a group with two friends, ‘DC Talk,’ in the late 1980s. Their first album, ‘Jesus Freak’ became a double-platinum record and sold more than two million copies.

After the band split, Toby embarked on a solo career, releasing his album, ‘Momentum’ in 2001. With a new sound and direction, Toby Mac started attracting attention within Christian and mainstream media. He has written songs for several films including, ‘Never Back Down’ and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.’

Toby Mac has also written two books entitled, ‘Jesus Freaks: dc Talk’ and ‘The Voice of the Martyrs – Stories of Those Who Stood For Jesus.’ Toby is married to Amanda, and together they have five children. Unfortunately, his 21-year-old son, Truett Foster, an aspiring rapper, died of an accidental drug overdose in October 2019. Toby Mac lives with his family in Nashville, Tennessee.
